How can Guernsey strengthen its appeal to the funds industry?

Guy Hands, Chairman and Chief Investment Officer of Terra Firma, will open the seminar with his keynote address. This will be followed by a panel of technical and strategic professionals who will examine and debate how Guernsey can strengthen its appeal to the funds industry.

This seminar and debate, in association with The NED Forum and hosted by GIBA, is designed for all Non-Executive Directors who are on the Boards of funds domiciled in Guernsey as well as senior managers and senior partners across the fund sector including lawyers and accountants.

GUY HANDS
Keynote Address,

Founder, Chairman and Chief Investment Officer of Terra Firma Capital Partners, one of Europe’s leading private equity firms. He sits on the boards of General Partners and heads Terra Firma’s Management Committee. Over the past 20 years, Guy has overseen the investment of more than €16 billion in 33 businesses with a total enterprise value of more than €47 billion.

GERALD HOUGH FCMA, CDir
Moderator,

Managing Director of State Street Global Services Channel Islands. Gerald enjoyed 14 years in the City of London with Morgan Grenfell and Deutsche Asset Management latterly as Chief Executive of Deutsche Life and Pensions. He joined State Street in 2007 and is a Fellow of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and is a Chartered Director.

SIMON HOLDEN
Panellist,

An independent director based in Guernsey and sits on a number of Boards. Previously a buy-side private equity investment manager, Simon is well placed to provide offshore Boards and structures with substantive, investment financing, strategy and operational expertise having worked to transform a number of portfolio companies.

JOHN MORGAN
Panellist,

John is a Partner and has overall responsibility for Pantheon’s global legal & compliance affairs. Prior to joining Pantheon, John worked within the Corporate Department team of Debevoise & Plimpton, having previously trained at Linklaters. John holds a LLB in Law with French from Birmingham University.

CATHY PITT
Panellist,

Partner in the Corporate Department of CMS which is the largest law firm in Europe. Cathy has nearly 20 years’ experience in the investment sector and is particularly well-known for her expertise in close-ended listed funds for which she is widely recognised. She regularly writes and speaks on issues relevant to funds, asset managers and fund NEDs.

GRAHAM PARROTT
Panellist,

Founder of Fitzroy Tax Services Ltd. Graham has been a tax advisor in the UK, Australia and Guernsey for more than 30 years and has seen and advised on many fund structures that have, and have not, come to Guernsey.

He is a member of the main IoD Committee in Guernsey and is part of the tax and regulation sub-committee. He sits on the Tax Sub-Committee of the GSCCA as part of which he has been involved in working with the States of Guernsey on international issues in the area of taxation.
