EVENT
Essential Cyber Security for Non-Executive Directors (Re-Run)
4 December 2020
The Board, not IT, is responsible for cyber and information security. The GFSC requires boards to demonstrate taking cybersecurity seriously. The FRC, when issuing the UK Corporate Governance Code, highlighted that cyber is amongst the principal risks for many companies. If a company suffers a breach, the NED will be expected to show evidence of having governed cybersecurity as an enterprise-wide risk. It will not be appropriate to say the topic was handed to IT, with weak evidence of board oversight.
The NED is also a target for cybercriminals to access the organisation’s sensitive information. The risks are higher when the NED uses their own email and technology. This interactive workshop will help demystify cybersecurity and discuss protective controls across people, operations and technology in line with globally recognised frameworks. It will help NEDs to better manage their business and personal cybersecurity, and to ask the challenging questions required by regulators and investors.
