EVENT
Building Emotionally Intelligent Leadership through Mindfulness
22 November 2018
VENUE: HARRY BOUND ROOM LES COTILS
This workshop provides a taster session to introducing mindfulness into the work place and how this builds on Daniel Goleman’s work on emotional intelligence. It is based on a three step process comprising:
• Attention Training – attention is the basis of all higher cognitive and emotional abilities. The idea is to train attention to create a quality of mind that is clam and clear at the same time. That quality of mind forms the foundation for emotional intelligence,
• Self-Knowledge and Management – using trained attention to creates high resolution perception in our own cognitive and emotive processes. This allows one to observe one’s thought stream and the process of emotion with high clarity and to so objectively from a third person perspective. This deep self knowledge allows self-management.
• Creating useful mental habits – there are mental habits which can be volitionally trained which can lead to highly constructive relationships and enhanced general well being,
The number of mindfulness training courses in a corporate environment has increased dramatically in recent years Although we may encounter some scepticism regarding mindfulness in the workplace, training has been proven to be very popular and impactful amongst a range of businesses and organisations from front-line police officers and US Marines to bankers and rugby players. Mindfulness training is now mainstream with global companies and government departments implementing mindfulness based programmes.
This taster session will be highly interactive with some short gentle mindfulness practices, some focusing of attention exercises and group discussion.
