A make-or-break conversation: what your EU clients will demand from you for DORA.

23 October 2024

If you are on the Board of a firm providing services to EU sectors including Insurance, Investments, Fund and Asset Administration and Management, then the EU’s new DORA cyber security regulations affect you. The new regulations, effective January 2025, can present commercial risks to Channel Islands financial services firms if not managed proactively and appropriately.

For the EU client to comply with DORA, they may include Channel Islands firms in their risk analysis of their supply chain relating to ‘critical or important functions’ and ‘risk exposure to and from other financial entities’. To address this, the EU client would be expected to review the Channel Islands firm’s cyber risk assessment and security controls. DORA’s requirements are comprehensive, and this could be a make-or-break discussion on whether to continue business together.

Join our experts James Martel and Bruce McDougall to hear what your Board should do now in your ownership of cyber risk to prepare and present your cyber security controls to your clients, why this cannot be delegated to IT, and how to convert this into a competitive advantage.
